Everything I record has a chorus effect.?
I have my line 6 Spider III Guitar amp plugged straight to my computer with a 1/8 audio cable. I have played through 4 different types of recording software and Every time I get a chorus effect randomly showing up anywhere from 2 seconds to 15 in the recording. I am using Realtek HD Audio, Windows Vista Home Service pack 2. I made sure there is nothing on with “chorus” on. My amp has the effect built in but is not on. I am trying to record a demo for my band and I really need to fix this problem. I also remember on my old laptop it did the same thing when I played sounds. I forgot how to get rid of it. The laptop had XP on it so it’s not vista. My amp is a 150-watt half stack and I have the settings at about %20-30. Could the size have anything to do with it?
I plugged the guitar STRAIGHT into the computer without an amp. I could hear it on my speakers. I recorded and it did the exact same thing. Is it the decibel level?
When a problem like this occurs during recording you need to isolate the cause.
4 Recording apps.
2 computers/systems.
1 amp.
The only thing in common is the amp.
Have you tried the guitar direct into the computer?
If the output from the amp is a 1/4 jack it’ll plug straight into the guitar.
The input level or recording source may need to be changed or adjusted.
For studio sessions the guitar amps are usually miced. Bass and keyboard via a DI box.
A guitar plugged direct will need any effects added after recording.
For a demo this should be sufficient. Will the band chuck you out if it’s not perfect?
I play bass and for the studio demos I’ve done I’ve been DI’d and had no direct input during the mixdown. End result – sounds nothing like the sound I get using my amp. The end results overall though were good enough to use.
